Why We Like The Burley Flatbed Utility Cargo Bike Trailer

When we have the option, we prefer to take our bike instead of hopping in the truck, and the Burley Flatbed Utility Cargo Bike Trailer lets us expand our commuting capabilities. When we have a large grocery pick-up or lots of gear to transport, the topless design and 100-pound capacity allow us to carry more than the average bike trailer.

Just what I needed

I bought the Flatbed trailer for my dog. This is not an Burley-approved use for it, but I know my dog would hate being cooped up inside an enclosed trailer. She is very well behaved, so an open air trailer like the Flatbed will enable her to hop on and off as she chooses. She loves the dog bed I bought with it. I keep that in the house, and it has become her favorite place to sit while at home. She hasn’t yet become comfortable with being in the trailer, but that will come with time. I once bought a Radio Flyer Red Wagon for a dog that had recently undergone knee surgery. She was very wary at first, but riding in it soon became her favorite thing in the world. Fit and finish are excellent. It rolls very smoothly behind my bike. Most importantly, it will enable my dog and me to take long adventures together that would otherwise be impossible.

Food Rescue

I had been "borrowing" a Burley cargo trailer for well over a year. So I bought it because the other Burley trailers have worked well. It is providing cargo transport as expected. I use it for transporting banana boxes and bins full of food, often over the rated weigh, with no problem. And I use it for grocery shopping. One note. The rubber covering on the wheel releases has fallen off on other trailers purchased a few months ago. Mine are intact for now, but after only a few trips and one car "bump." The loss of the rubber covering does not seem to have any impact on functionality of the trailers.

So far so great!

I found the setup to be quick and easy, the quick-release wheels to work very well, and the mount onto my bike very well designed. It's pretty simple to get the trailer on and off my bike. I've taken about 6 trips with 75lbs of cargo and the handling is great. I'm on a paved bike trail mostly and some city and couldn't be happier so far with my purchase. Handling is pretty easy and the trailer feels durable. Mostly I'm stoked how easily I can detach the trailer and how simple the setup is. One note: I don't have a kick stand and it can be a little tricky finding balance while attaching our detaching the trailer. I might get a kick stand :D

I haven't even used it

I haven't even used it yet. Easy to put together, so it's a 4 star review. Probably should be a five I'm sure it'll pull as good as the burley bee.

Excellent product and correspondence. Great

Excellent product and correspondence. Great features with easy set up and take down. Would like a locking mechanism as option in future, also if side braces were removable, that could be a nice feature. The ease of wheel removal is outstanding.

New trailer

Great trailer. Rolls really well. Simple to assemble and very light. Despite low weight it carries a lot. Very pleased with my purchase.

My new work truck! I

My new work truck! I live in a small village in Alaska and have not owned a motor vehicle in over a decade. This little trailer is now one of the most handy things I own. So far I have used it to haul firewood, move tools to and from jobsites, move to sofas, haul gear for camping trips, and even to launch a boat. It seems strudy so far. No more ridiculous loads on my back. Now I just need to figure out how to hitch it to my carbon bike.

Awesome grocery getter!

I recently purchased a Flatbed to replace my recently sold Surly Big Dummy, and I wish I had bought it years ago. With a small tote, I can carry a full grocery cart full of supplies with ease! It's relatively light weight, and all of the bikes in my fleet can tow the trailer. I recently made a run to the hardware store to pick up 2x4s, and the trailer got everything home in one piece. In addition to being able to haul a weeks worth of groceries, I love the trailer's removable wheels, which make for simple storage.
