Castelli becomes the official jersey sponsor of the Giro d'Italia, marking the first Castelli-made Maglia Rosa, which was won by Giovanni Battaglin.

1982

Frenchman Bernard Hinault wins his second Giro d'Italia GC title.
Francesco Moser wins the Maglia Rosa for the only time in his career, in a result that was dictated largely by his impressive time trialing. Moser had won the Points Classification in four previous Giros.

1984

1985

Bernard Hinault wins his third and final Maglia Rosa. Each of his successful GC campaigns was undertaken while wearing Castelli clothing.
Roberto Visentini defeats favorites Francesco Moser and Greg LeMond to win his first and only Maglia Rosa.

1986

Irishman Stephen Roche wins the GC, becoming the first rider hailing from outside of mainland Europe to do so.

1987

1988

Widely remembered for his 1991 GC victory, Franco Chioccioli sports the Maglia Rosa, which he held until Stage 6 of the 1988 edition. Andy Hampsten would go on to win that year's GC, becoming the first and only American to have won the Maglia Rosa.

1989

Laurent Fignon, wearing the Maglia Rosa, outsprints Marizio Fondriest to narrowly win the 1989 GC title.
Gianni Bugno wins the GC and Points Classification in one fell swoop.

1990

1991

In the highpoint of his cycling career, Franco Chioccioli takes the GC win.

1992

Castelli ends its run as the official supplier of leader's jerseys for the Giro d'Italia, with Gianni Bugno winning the Maglia Rosa.
Castelli makes its joyous return to supplying the Giro d'Italia leader's jerseys.

2018

The Maglia Rosa

Borrowing its distinctive pink hue from the newspaper pages of the race's original sponsor, the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Maglia Rosa is an object of adoration for cycling fans the world over. It has been donned by such giants as Coppi, Merckx, and most recently Tom Dumoulin, just to name but a few from the illustrious list who have earned the right to wear this iconic leader's jersey.
